How does tattoo removal work?
During a laser treatment, strong pulses of light are directed at the tattoo, breaking down the ink particles. This makes it easier for the body to eliminate the ink, causing the tattoo to fade a little more with each treatment. At New Skin Laserclinic, we use FracTAT® technology and the Nd:YAG laser. With this advanced technology, we can treat everyone safely and effectively.

Tattoo Laser Removal Recovery: What Can You Expect After Treatment?
After the laser treatment, your skin may be slightly red and swollen, and you may experience itching. This can last 1 to 3 hours. Some bruising may also be visible for the first few days, and blisters may develop after laser tattoo removal, especially with colored tattoos.
It’s important to try to touch these scabs and blisters as little as possible so they can heal completely and prevent infections. This will go away on its own within a few days. However, to speed up the process, it’s important to use the right healing cream as part of your tattoo aftercare. Read more about this below .
Laser Treatment for Blisters After a Tattoo
Are you experiencing blisters or small blisters after having your tattoo lasered? This is a normal reaction of the skin to the heat from the laser. The blisters can vary in size and are part of the natural healing process. Do not pop them, as this increases the risk of infection.
Itching After Laser Tattoo Removal
Itching after laser tattoo removal is common and is caused by the body’s reaction to the removal of pigment. We understand that it’s hard not to scratch when you’re itchy, but it’s very important to resist the urge as much as possible. The itching usually goes away on its own once the skin heals.
Allergic reaction after laser treatment
An allergic reaction may occur after laser tattoo removal, although this is rare. Symptoms include redness, swelling, itching, or a rash at the treated site. To prevent allergic reactions, it’s important to follow proper aftercare instructions after tattoo removal and always adhere to the treatment guidelines. If you experience severe symptoms, such as breathing difficulties or extreme swelling, it’s important to seek medical attention immediately.

Why is aftercare so important after tattoo removal?
We do our part to ensure that your tattoo removal is a success. However, the results also depend on proper aftercare. So it’s important to take good care of your skin after laser treatment.
Why? After the treatment, the skin becomes thinner and may become dry, itchy, and feel tight. This slows down the healing process, which is something we want to prevent with the right aftercare. A healing cream is therefore crucial to the final result of your treatment. If you don’t use it, you’ll likely end up scratching, which can lead to scabs and scars.
Aftercare for Tattoo Removal with a Laser
What’s the best aftercare following tattoo removal? There are a few things you should avoid after laser treatment. We’ve listed them for you:
- Keep the treated area thoroughly dry and clean
- Avoid excessive sun and do not go under a tanning bed during the entire treatment. Always use sunscreen on the area
- Do not shower too hot and do not go to the sauna for the first 2 weeks after treatment.
- Avoid strenuous physical activity and sweating on the treated area.
- Stay away from scabs and blisters.
Showering After Your Laser Treatment
Can you shower after laser treatment? Don’t worry—you can shower as usual after your laser treatment. Just make sure the water isn’t too hot to prevent a severe skin reaction. We also recommend using an antibacterial body wash. We recommend the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 body wash (9.95) to all our clients; it’s available at our clinic and in our online store.

When are you going to see results?
The results are often visible after just one or two treatments. You’ll notice that the tattoo fades and see some changes—sometimes the tattoo even takes on a different color. It’s also possible that it will take longer before you see results.
The number of sessions depends on a number of factors, such as the depth of the tattoo, the amount of ink, the location, and the quality of the ink. It often takes about 4 to 10 sessions. During a free consultation, we’ll provide an estimate of how many sessions you’ll likely need.

Why not Bepanthen or Vaseline?
Bepanthen and Vaseline are well-known brands when it comes to skin care. They are effective in restoring dry skin, for example. Although they can work well for dry skin, these products are not antibacterial and completely seal the skin. In the aftercare of a tattoo laser treatment, it is important to use products that allow the skin to breathe. So that irritation can be prevented and recovery is faster.
The products we recommend are special products that contain the right ingredients. For example, we chose La Roche Posay Cicaplast B5 because it is one of the few lines that, in addition to its restorative effect, also has an antibacterial effect. We find this extremely important. This product is used by dermatologists and skin therapists after cosmetic surgery, sutures, and also laser treatments. The recommendation is to apply twice a day for the first five days after treatment. This also applies to the wash gel.
Benefits La Roche Posay Cicaplast B5:
⁃ Moisturizes the skin so that it does not flake or peel and combats itching
⁃ Works anti-bacterial and prevents infection
⁃ Provides an extra layer of protection
⁃ Heals twice as fast and prevents scarring
We recommend a combination of the Cicaplast Baume B5 (wash gel) and the Cicaplast B5 Gel.
User Manual
The first week after treatment, wash the skin with the Cicaplast Baume B5. This wash gel is and anti-bacterial and soothing to the skin. Then you pat the area dry with a clean towel and lubricate the skin with the Cicaplast B5 Gel.
