The Starwalker MAQX is a laser that can be safely applied to any skin type. Tattoo removal on dark skin will in some cases require more treatments than on white skin. This is because darker skin contains more natural pigments and will require lower treatments.
No Scars
The StarWalker works on the basis of an acoustic response in the skin, which means that there is almost no more heat development in the skin surface and therefore no chance of pigment shift or skin injury. With the older lasers (such as the Q-switch ND-YAG, Alexandrite, Ruby, Medlite and Harmony lasers), scarring was a common side effect. This is because these lasers work on the basis of a thermal effect. So much heat is produced in the skin here which caused too much damage to the skin resulting in; scar tissue.
