What is pigment?
Pigment is also called melanin.
It is a body's own dye found in your hair, the iris of your eye and, of course, in your skin. Pigment protects your skin from the UV rays found in sunlight. If you are in the sun often, the skin makes more pigment in the form of a protective layer.
Hyperpigmentation involves an accumulation of this skin pigment. This creates localized dark pigment spots in the skin. Hyperpigmentation is a common complaint among sun lovers and, in older age, a consequence of the aging process.
Treating pigmentation spots. How it works.
During the treatment we will heat the pigment granules by means of laser light so that they will be broken down and removed by your body. The pigment spot turns white-gray and shortly afterwards the pigment spot becomes a lot darker than you are used to. Sometimes spot bleeding/bleeding occurs. These eventually become small blue spots that recover completely.
* Unfortunately, not every pigment spot is treatable. Only pigment spots in the upper layer of the skin (epidermis) can be treated.
After treatment
Days after treatment, dark brown and sometimes black scabs will appear. It is important that you absolutely do not scratch it. If you do, you will disturb the healing process and you may end up with a white spot that often does not color back.
Some blisters may also appear. This is normal and will dry by itself. After 4 weeks you come back for control and in some cases a second appointment is necessary.

A dark brown crust will appear on the skin days after treatment. It is important that you absolutely do not scratch it. If you do, you will interfere with the healing process and you may end up with a white spot that often doesn't fade back. After about 2 weeks the scab will fall off and in the following weeks you won't see anything at all! Hello new skin!

You can compare it to rubber bands shooting against the skin. During the treatment we use a Zimmer Cool device, which numbs the skin with ice cold air. This makes the treatment 75% less sensitive.
