I have been lasering away my tattoo for many years and have been to several clinics. I have been treated with the old techniques and new techniques, including Undo which uses Picoway. There was no reason to change clinics because was generally satisfied. Basically the Picoway should give the same results as the Fontona that New Skin uses. I still wanted to experience another clinic so I ended up at New Skin.I have to say that I am still more satisfied with the results I got at New Skin with the Fontona. Normally after laser treatment with the Picoway I have more damage to my pigment, which consists of white spots and obvious pigment shift. Because I have tinted skin you could see the lines where the tattoo was lasered very clearly, the lines turned white and also did not seem to disappear. I assumed this would stay that way and that it was permanent damage to my skin and pigment. After treatment with the Fontona at New Skin, I do not suffer from this at all and the white lines and damage seem to have disappeared as well.It recovered very nicely and seems to be catching on very well. It hurt maybe a little tad more but was all worth it. The pain also disappeared very quickly! I also find the care and time they take for you at New Skin generally better than the other clinics I have been to so far. I don't need any more treatment for now because the tattoo is as good as gone but should I need a follow-up treatment I will definitely make an appointment here again.

How does micro hair pigmentation (MHP) removal work?

In micro hair pigmentation, the pigment color is applied just below the surface of the skin. Unlike tattoos, this usually involves pigmentation in the top layer of the skin.

Because of the size of the ink particles, the body is unable to break them down. This causes the skin to encapsulate the pigments so that it is not damaged. In this way, balls of ink are literally created that do not damage the skin but are visible and will remain in place.

The safest way to remove MHP is through laser therapy. Laser beams are absorbed by the color pigments and this causes the large ink particles to break down into smaller ink particles, small enough that they can be disposed of by the body. So during each session, we will remove a layer of those pigments until there is nothing left.

How many treatments are needed?

How many treatments are needed to remove micro-hair pigmentation is very difficult to predict prior to the process. On average, 3-5 treatments are required to remove MHP. We want to strongly emphasize that this number is only an average. The speed at which an MHP can be removed depends on many different factors:

Amount of ink:
The amount of ink greatly determines the number of treatments. The more ink used during the MHP setting, the more treatments will be needed to remove the MHP.

Color of the MHP:
The color used plays an important role in removal. Pigments with dark undertones (such as black and gray) are generally easier to remove than pigments with red undertones (brown). Red pigments may first oxidize during treatment, which will cause the MHP to darken. This dark color will then fade with subsequent treatments.

Skin type:
The lighter the skin, the easier it is to remove MHP. The more pigment the skin contains, the more treatments will be needed.

In addition to the factors mentioned above, there are a number of other factors that affect the speed of removal. Namely, these are age and health.

Depth:
The deeper the MHP is set, the more treatments will be needed. If it is a shallow MHP then it will be easier to remove again.

Quality of pigments:
There are many different pigment types on the market. Each pigment type has its own composition and reacts differently to laser treatment.

The individual lymphatic system:
The pigment particles pulverized during laser treatment are drained by the lymphatic system in the weeks following treatment. In some people this process works faster than in others.

How many weeks are there between treatments and how long will my laser session take?

How long the body takes to dispose of the ink particles from 1 treatment can vary from person to person. On average, this process takes 8 weeks. The result of 1 treatment can therefore really only be determined after at least 8 weeks.

So we prefer to schedule a treatment every 8 weeks.
We do not recommend scheduling a treatment earlier because the ink particles will not be completely removed by then. The treatment itself is quite short, only a few minutes.

Is the Fotona Starwalker MAQX a "Picolaser?

Yes! The Fotona Starwalker belongs to one of the newest and most advanced laser systems in the field of TATTOO, PMU and MHP removal.

In addition to being FDA approved for the removal of MHP, the Starwalker works based on the picosecond technique.

A picosecond is 100 times faster compared to a nanosecond and only 1 trillionth of a second. In MHP removal, this causes the ink particles to be made even smaller, allowing the body to clear them even easier and faster

Is the treatment painful?

Laser treatment can be perceived as quite sensitive.

You can compare it to rubber bands slapping against the skin.

During the treatment we use a Zimmer Cool device, it numbs the skin with ice cold air. This makes the treatment much less sensitive.

I previously had my micro-hair pigmentation lasered away elsewhere, can I switch to you?

That is no problem at all, we see many cases where no more results could be achieved elsewhere and where we still get the MHP completely gone.

May I use numbing ointment before my treatment?

Yes you may! You can purchase an ointment at the clinic if they are in stock. Otherwise, it can also be done through your doctor by prescription.

What should I consider after the treatment?

After laser treatment you will usually experience some redness and swelling. The skin may feel sensitive for a while, but this will not interfere with your daily activities. In special cases blistering can occur. This is also a normal reaction, we see this mainly with colored pigments.

Is micro-hair pigmentation laser also suitable for tinted or dark skin?

Yes! With the Fotona Starwalker, we can safely treat any skin type. MHP removal on a dark skin will however require more treatments than on a white skin. This is because the dark skin contains more natural pigments so that there is an extra layer of skin present and there will be less treatment.

Can you be treated if you are pregnant?

New Skin Laserclinic has chosen not to treat during pregnancy, due to changed hormone levels the skin may react differently and the expected effects cannot be guaranteed as with normal hormone balance.

Will my micro-hair pigmentation go away completely?

Yes! Because we use the latest laser technology, we can also expect the best results. However, it still depends on a number of factors such as the composition of the pigments, presence of scar tissue, age and health. This all plays a role in the result and treatment process. In 99% of the cases we can remove everything.
