What do you find out?
How many tattoo removal treatments
How many treatments you need depends on a number of factors. On average you will need about 4 to 10 laser treatments. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee this because every tattoo is unique. Factors that can play a role in the number of treatments are:
- Depth of the tattoo
- Location of the tattoo
- Colours of the tattoo
- Age of the tattoo
- Laser technology

Depth of the tattoo
The depth of a tattoo plays an important role in the removal of a tattoo. The deeper the tattoo is placed in the skin, the more difficult it is to remove. Professionally made tattoos usually have a higher density of pigment and are placed deeper in the skin.
Location of the tattoo
If you have a tattoo lasered, the pigment is broken down and discharged through the body. This eventually ends up in the blood and is disposed of by the immune system. The blood is pumped around from the heart, so tattoos that are closer to the heart (neck, shoulders, back) will disappear faster. Tattoos on places such as hands, feet and lower legs will take longer to fade.
Colours of the tattoo
In general, tattoos with colour are more difficult to remove than black and white tattoos. Usually the colour black is the easiest to remove, then red, then blue and green. Purple and yellow are the hardest to remove.
Age of the tattoo
In general, older tattoos are easier to remove than fairly new ones. First of all, a tattoo may have faded a bit in recent years, making it easier to remove. Secondly, the quality of the pigments used in the past is a lot lower than it is now.
Laser technology
The laser technique used also affects the number of treatments. Some lasers are stronger than others, causing the tattoo to break down faster. At New Skin Laserclinic, we use the advanced laser equipment Fotona StarWalker MAQX. It is one of the fastest, safest and most effective method of getting your tattoo lasered. The laser device can be used on any skin type and leaves no scars at all.
How much does it cost to remove your tattoo?
Do you have a tattoo that you want to have lasered away? The cost of removing a tattoo depends on a number of factors.
How long does it take to remove a tattoo?
A laser treatment session usually takes quite a short time, depending of course on the size of your tattoo. For a smaller tattoo you may only need a few minutes. Of course you need several treatments. Usually there are 8 to 12 weeks between treatments. We do not recommend to do the treatments in quick succession. The skin needs enough time to remove the ink particles and to recover.
