We werken met een Q-switched en picoseconde Nd:YAG-laser op 532 nm. Deze richt zich specifiek op het pigment in je huid, verwarmt dit gecontroleerd en breekt het af in kleine deeltjes. Je lichaam ruimt die deeltjes vanzelf op in de weken na de behandeling.

Deze laser is vooral effectief tegen pigment dat oppervlakkig zit, in de bovenste huidlaag (de epidermis). Hieronder lees je welke pigmentvlekken we hiermee goed kunnen behandelen en welke minder geschikt zijn.

Welke pigmentvlekken kan je goed weglaseren?

Zonnevlekken (solar lentigines)
Sproeten (epheliden)
Oppervlakkige ouderdomsvlekken
Sommige oppervlakkige, goedaardige epidermale pigmentlaesies

Welke pigmentvlekken zijn minder geschikt voor een laserbehandeling?

Niet elke pigmentvlek reageert goed op een laserbehandeling. Sommige vlekken kunnen door de warmte zelfs donkerder worden of snel terugkomen:

Melasma (Zwangerschapsmasker): Wordt door de warmte van de laser vaak juist erger of komt snel terug. Crèmes en zonbescherming zijn hiervoor een veiligere keuze.
Post-inflammatoire hyperpigmentatie (PIH): Pigment na acne, eczeem of een wondje. Laser kan de vlek juist verergeren, vooral bij een donkere huid.
Dermale pigmentatie: Pigment dat diep in de lederhuid ligt (zoals bij bepaalde moedervlekken). De 532 nm-golflengte dringt hiervoor niet diep genoeg door.
Aangeboren moedervlekken (congenitale melanocytaire naevus): Verdwijnen niet met deze laser.
Café-au-lait-vlek: Kan tijdelijk lichter worden, maar de kans op terugkeer of donkerder worden is erg groot.
Becker-naevus: Reageert over het algemeen slecht op een laserbehandeling.

At first, I thought it wasn't working because I didn't see much of a difference after the first treatment. But by the third treatment, I could really see a big difference! I'm really happy with the results. It ended up taking nine treatments to completely remove the tattoo. But it was all worth it!
